Ayaka is a post-post-modernist interested in humanity, fellowship, and love.
Their practice is a dedication to earnest sincerity. Takao hopes to encourage humanity in it’s courageous leap towards the unknown Other. This is what they have been up to in the studio. This is what they have been up to in life.
Takao is also a co-organizer of Multi Projects in collaboration with Kera Rasavanh and Caleb Sugai, a DIY multi-disciplinary curatorial project providing educational programming in printmaking and independent publishing in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Multi aims to bridge the gap between 1) the artist and the public, and 2) artists to each other.
Ayaka loves love, emails, hanging out, making lists, reading before bed, reading upon waking, writing letters, distributing tokens of love, making soup, sharing soup with loved ones, dancing, meeting new people, supporting your dreams, holding hands, locking arms, making drawings no one will ever see, glue sticks, shrimp wonton noodle soup, museum memberships, having secrets (this is new!), rocks, lichen, going to the pub, laughing, committing to a bit, and so many more things.
Their practice exists roughly in 3 parts:
1) Excretion
(Physical/tangible outputs of ceramics, painting, drawing, and poetry)
2) Analysis
(Critical theory, peer2peer discourse, written word)
3) Application
(Fellowship, communion, social practice, story telling, Living Life)
